Open from 11am until 5pm Tuesday - Friday, Saturday 11am - 4pm, admission is free.

The Folly Gallery is an artist led media arts organisation specialising in photography, video and the internet. The gallery provides specialist services to artists and works with the community teaching skills and organising projects.

The Folly Cafe downstairs is a popular meeting place, which also displays photographs under the portfolio scheme in collaboration with the Richard Goodall Gallery.

There is a stair lift to the upper gallery.

Also you can visit the Folly Online Chat Room at their website - sessions take place between 6.30 and 8pm on Thursday evenings.

Folly have a rotating collection of work on display across Lancaster and Morecambe at Elm House, Lower Priory Hall, The Occupational Therapy Unit at Ridge Lea Hospital, Inward House, Lancaster Prison, Harvey House, Luneside Centre and St John's Hospice as well as three public spaces - Lancaster Railway Station, the Platform and the Market.

Open 11am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and in addition from 6pm until 8.30pm on Thursday evenings. Closed at week-ends. Admission is free.

The gallery is on the University of Lancaster campus. The visitors car park is a 20 minute walk from the gallery. A shop sells books, postcards, pottery and works of art by students. There is a cafe next door. There is a wheelchair lift to the first floor.

The gallery exhibits a regularly changing body of work from the University Collection. This is a modern, light, well designed gallery. A little difficult to get to, but worth the effort.

A small exhibition of work by and about Ruskin. The library is worth the visit alone - a modern classical piece of architecture set in the Lancaster University campus.

The Storey Gallery is near the Castle, a short walk from the station.

This is an artist-led gallery which runs temporary exhibitions of contemporary visual art in all media.

Adjoining the Gallery is a walled garden, in one half of which is a permanent environmental artwork, "The Tasting Garden", by Mark Dion. This was created in 1998 as one site in Artranspennine '98.

An Indian restaurant, the Sultan of Lancaster, houses a contemporary art gallery, showing art inspired by Islamic values and principles. The Sultan of Lancaster Art Gallery displays work by local and international artists on a regular basis.

The Art Gallery continues to evolve, developing artwork themes for existing and new audiences. As well as displaying pieces of artwork, the gallery has extended its function to facilitating workshops and artists talks for all ages.
