Towneley Hall is on the A646 about 2 miles south east of Burnley. The main entrance is on Todmorden Rd. The two galleries are on the top floor of the museum.

The collection contains 18th and 19th century English paintings and watercolours, including works by Zoffany, Landseer, Burne-Jones and Alma-Tadema. Temporary exhibitions are held throughout the year.

There is a cafe in the grounds. The museum is accessible to wheelchair users.
