The gallery is opposite the Town Hall which has a tall clock tower which is
easily seen. The gallery is a short walk away from both the bus station and the
railway station. Plenty of parking in the nearby Octagon Centre.
The permanent collection houses a representative British collection, with
watercolours by artists from Turner to Hepworth. Also works by Bloomsbury
artists, and an important group of bronze busts by Jacob Epstein. Some fine
Italian baroque paintings.
Membership of The Friends of Bolton Museum and Art Gallery costs £8 per person
and entitles members to free entry to Smithills Hall and Hall i' th' Wood
museums, 20% discount at the shop, visits to other galleries, invitations to
previews, lectures and social events and regular mailings. To join write to Hon.

Most areas of the Museum and Art Gallery are accessible to people with
disabilities using the ramped entrance and lift in the foyer. Attendant staff
are always happy to assist.
